MARCH IAS MEETING – Thursday, March 5th, 2020
7 pm in Ascension’s Community Center; doors open at 6:30 pm to set up
Come help us nail down all the final details for the OV St. Patrick’s Day Parade! We’ll have a sign up sheet at the Fáilte Table when you enter for carrying our 32 Irish County Flags (first come, first served!!!) as well as other tasks we need to have taken care of for our IAS & Friends St. Patrick’s Day Parade Contingent.
For example, we need 2 convertibles for our 2020 IAS Princesses to ride on, we need trucks & drivers to pull our 2 IAS floats (the Irish Cottage & the Paddy Wagon), we need people to carry banners, etc. All are welcome to participate – bring friends & family and BE PART OF THE FUN!!!
At the March meeting, we will also show the cute family-friendly romantic comedy LEAP YEAR starring Amy Adams! Yes, we were supposed to show it at the February meeting, but we had major technical difficulties beyond our control, for which we sincerely apologize. The film is set mostly in Ireland, where it was filmed on location. The movie is 1 hour and 41 minutes long; we will start it immediately following some BRIEF parade announcements at 7. The film’s premise is that there is an Irish tradition which allows women to ask men to marry them on a leap year. Ladies, I will repeat that this IS a leap year…
During the Leap Year movie, we will be taking 2020 IAS annual dues & membership forms, selling Comoradh 40 pins, and continuing to sign people up for SPD parade duties. The Cash Donation Bar will be available, plus please bring treats to share.
FINALLY, we will have some lovely shirts for Silent Auction at the March meeting with our IAS logo embroidered on them by ***S&E Embroidery*** and generously donated by same. Many thanks to Susan Frohwitter for organizing this! Do YOU have your IAS gear ready for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade?!?! If not, these shirts could be just the ticket! Assuming we have broken even on the Emerald Ball, then all profits from this shirt Silent Auction will go to the IAS Honor Guard Kilt Fund!
Silent Auction will close at 8:30 pm during the movie. Here are the shirts sizes & colors. All are embroidered over the ♥ with our logo. The polos are short-sleeved, and the button downs are long-sleeved. To be clear we have one of each listed below, a total of six shirts. I’ll post a picture in the comments on the invite…
