June IAS Meeting w/ 2 Special Programs: IAS BUDGET ppt & COASTAL VIRGINIA CUP TOURNAMENT IN VB

Neptune with hurl-sliotar-mediumAt our June 4th meeting, Edward will present a brief PPT on the IAS budget and our various monthly and annual IAS activities.

In addition, members of the Hampton Roads Hurling Club will be in attendance to present a program for us on the 1st Annual COASTAL VIRGINIA CUP HURLING & CAMOGIE TOURNAMENT, which will be taking place here in Virginia Beach on Saturday, July 18th!!! This is a BIG DEAL for Gaelic Games in our area — PLEASE do come out to learn more about this exciting IRISH event!

The IAS Board is already planning cool ways to showcase Irish culture at the tournament, so come be a part of that! We want YOUR ideas and your help to make this tournament AMAZING!!! Some ideas the IAS board has been discussing:

*IAS Irish Cottage float on site as Failte Wagon – Jack Kennedy will bring
*Irish coin toss for each match done by IAS officers (camogie) & IAS princesses (hurling); each coin in presentation box w/ calligraphy by Betsy Kennedy for winning captains at after party
*Face painting & Irish photo screens (leprechaun & goat) for kids of all ages by Joy Brady-Boyd
*Irish national anthem included in opening ceremonies – Edward Brash
*IAS set of 32 County Flags paraded in opening ceremonies – Jim Hagerty
*IAS info table/tent – newsletters, Irish soda bread & other Irish goodies for sale, etc. – Kate Sandoval
*IAS Irish Volunteers in IAS baseball caps – Joe Brady

CVC poster 2015CnamB is putting together gift bags for all camogs who come to VB to participate in the tournament; if you have ideas or items to donate for this, please let Lynnette Fitch Brash know!

Don’t forget about ceili dancing before the meeting! IAS Teen Princess 2008 & champion Irish step dancer Maggie Wilcox will be teaching Irish social dancing from 6:15-7:00 pm! Wear comfortable clothes and shoes to dance. No experience or partners required, and all ages are welcome to participate!

Ceili dancing will start at 6:15 pm and end at 7 pm; a brief business meeting will begin at 7:00 pm. After the business meeting, refreshments will be available, and then we will present the program.

You don’t have to be an official member to attend. The more the merrier – bring a friend! HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE! 🙂
