You asked for it, we’re trying to make it happen! We have thirteen spots available on a rental van headed straight for THE CENTRAL VIRGINIA CELTIC FESTIVAL AND HIGHLAND GAMES on Saturday, October 19th!
(The Festival and Highland Games are from October 19 & 20, 2013 @ Richmond Raceway Complex in Richmond, VA)
Our Junior VP John “JJ” Johnson will be your designated driver for the day.
The van will leave from Ascension’s parking lot at 8 am sharp, rain or shine, in order to be there at the beginning of the games. Depending on where the riders live, we may be able to make a quick pick up stop in Hampton and/or Williamsburg to pick up passengers as well. The van will leave the games when they close at 6 pm to return. Last year we had glorious weather, but some years in the past it has been chilly and/or wet. Monitor the weather and dress for comfort as this is an OUTDOOR event – some years require warm woolens and/or wellies!
The price per rider for the van is $35; we have to cover the rental, insurance, gas, etc. Please make checks payable to the IAS. Send checks/money orders to Edward Brash, our Financial Secretary, at 4702 Post Oak Drive, VB, VA 23464. The last day to pay will be at the October IAS meeting; if we don’t have all the spots paid for by the end of the meeting, we may have to cancel and give refunds.
We MUST fill all 13 seats in order to make this trip a reality! The first 13 to pay get to go. I will ask Edward to post updates on the IAS Facebook page whenever seats are paid for – payment in full is the only way to reserve your spot. NO REFUNDS UNLESS we don’t get enough riders to make it happen; in that event, then everyone will receive a full refund.
PLEASE NOTE that you will also have to buy your own admission ticket ($15 per person) at the gate when you get there.
Don’t miss the fun! Glasgow Kiss and other great Celtic bands will be playing on the main stage, the IAS will have its own tent in Clan Row that you can use as a “homebase”, our friends from the SST & HRHC will be our neighbors, there will be excellent Celtic food and gift vendors, you can watch Irish and Scottish dancers perform, the Scottish heavy athletics and pipe bands will be competing, and Guinness and other delicious beverages are available there for purchase.
